Sucre’s New Cemetery

Sucre’s main cemetery, the General Cemetery, has been getting rather crowded of late – it was recently announced that they only have 61 spaces left. In response to this a new, privately owned, cemetery is to be constructed.

The new cemetery will be constructed in the Huayrapata area of the city, and will have 12,000 spaces (4,000 of those will be underground) and 2,500 ossuaries. The 20,000 sq. meter cemetery will consist of 8 irrigated terraced gardens.

Onsite there will be a chapel, a cafe, a florist, parking and legal services. The cemetery also includes private security and maintenance services.

Sucre’s new cemetery is scheduled to open on 24th of February.
